Soothe: Saltwater gargles: mix 1 tsp salt in 8 oz warm water – gargle several times a day. Try adding 2 tsp of slippery elm bark to 1 cup of hot water (steep for at least 5 minutes in a covered teapot). Drink this as needed to relieve pain or a few times per day. Slippery elm bark lozenges are another option.

Sore throat: I like to inhale eucalyptus oil mist. Use a humidifier and drip 5-10 drops of eucalyptus oil (don't make it very strong) and inhale it through your nose. Eucalyptus soothes mucosal membranes and appeases cough and scratchy throat. Make sure the mist is lukewarm and not hot.
