A member asked:

Help please! is antibiotic used to help with glandular fever?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No: Glandular fever is the lay term for mononucleosis which is a viral infection. Antibiotics are not used unless there is a co-existing bacterial infection. In many cases a patient with mono who is put on amoxicillin or ampicillin will break out in a typical whole body rash as an expected side effect.
