A member asked:

What can i do if my boyfriend has shingles; do i need to stay away?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe: Shingles cannot be passed from one person to another. However, it can be spread from a person with active shingles to a person who has never had chickenpox. The virus is spread through direct contact with fluid from the rash blisters, not through sneezing, coughing or casual contact.
