Antifungal ointments: Skin fungus (ringworm) is best treated with over the counter antifungal lotions containing agents such as miconazole, terbinafine, clotrimazole, ketoconazole, or tolnaftate. These can be applied twice a day for about 10 days. A 2% iodine solution applied three times a day with a swab for three weeks may work if antifungals are not available.
