Dermatologist did scrape test (koh test) on assumed ringworm but didnt see fungus. however i had just shaved with a manual razor over the ringworm spot less than an hour before. could this have affected the test by removing the top layer of skin?

Possible, but you may have an other skin lesion(s) mimicking ringworm, e.g., nummular eczema, granuloma annulare, etc.
