Most avoid that word: It is most often described as successful treatment - not cure. And yes, many - even most - depressions can be successfully treated. Your expectations need to be aimed at realistic targets so that you'll be able to evaluate the benefits of your treatment. Talk with a psychotherapist to plan a treatment approach that will be right for you. It may include drugs or not. Work together to be successful.

Depression: Most depressions can be treated successfully with psychotherapy and possibly medication as well. Often depressed people have developed a very negative self voice that drives a person's spirit into the ground. If this applies you will need to discover a more realistic way of talking to yourself as you realize your true worth. Best.
