A member asked:

Could you tell me what happens if you take anti-depressants?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depression improves?: Ideally, taking antidepressant medication improves the depression or other symptoms that led your doctor to prescribe it. It usually takes a few weeks to get the full effect. Sometimes there are side effects and sometimes the dosage has to be adjusted or the medicine needs to be changed or another one needs to be added. Psychotherapy may also be helpful. Keep in close touch with your doctor.
