Anemia: While there are several different kinds of hereditary anemia, most of these are rare. The most common forms of anemia are all due to nutritional deficiency, which you cannot get from your sister. To prevent this, it is a very good idea for everyone to take a multiple vitamin daily with both iron and folic acid.

A little: Most anemia is due to iron deficiency. This is likely dietary but might also be from bleeding. These are mostly individual and do not run in families. A few forms are inherited so if your sister has one of these, then you should also be tested.
