A member asked:

I wanted to know when you get a sprained ankle, do you go to your local doctor or a hospital to get the cast?

Either: You can go to er to make sure its not fractured then foot and ankle specialist for treatment or go straight to foot specialist.

You may not need one: Have it evaluated by a podiatrist to get your treatment options.

No cast: It would be unusual to need a cast for a sprained ankle. Most ankle sprains heal more quickly with early movement of the ankle joint. An aircast or lace up style brace may make it more comfortable for you to walk with an ankle sprain.
