Young man: You're not as young as you used to be so it's unlikely that you'll recover from sports like you did in your 20's. The ankle swells for many reasons, it could be from the increased strain of the sport, previous injury to the ankle, high blood pressure, venous insufficiency, lack of supports needed for stability, possible current injury, etc. Hope that helps, but let me know if you need more.
