See an OB/GYN doctor: In general, gradual thickening of the lining of the uterus (the endometrium) is abnormal. Now, during our menstrual cycle, the lining thickens and sheds off with each period. Progressive thickening might mean abnormalities in the ovary hormones, so that you don't have a normal "shedding, " or possibly a disease that allows overgrowth -- like benign "hyperplasia, " or rarely, a cancer.
