Possible scoliosis: The only thing that at all comes to mind where an adolescent loses height would be that her spine is starting to bend, a condition known as scoliosis. The bend can be side to side or front to back, and either could lead one to measure "shorter" in height. Have her pediatrician do a very thorough back exam and even consider x-rays if there has indeed been true, documented loss of height.
