How common is it for someone to need a video fluoroscopy?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Difficult 2 swallow?: Video fluoroscopy is usually ordered in the setting of having difficulty swallowing or aspiration. Sometimes this happens following a stroke. Usually a speech therapist and radiologist perform the study together with the speech therapist giving liquids and solids of varying consistency. The images are analyzed for normal swallowing mechanism and to exclude aspiration (food/liquid entering airway).
