If you take drugs occasionally, is there still a risk of addiction? and if so, by what percentage is it less likely?

There are opinions: There are knowledgeable people who have opinions about this issue who sincerely fall all along the spectrum from 0.01% to 99.9%. (there's never all or none) also, it might vary by the particular drug and how often is occasionally and how much and co-morbidity, etc. Also, there is physical & psychological addiction. So, if anyone gives an exact %, they may be making it up. Best wishes.

Yes there IS risk: If a drug is "your" drug, you can be hooked from first use. I've known many people who drank their first drink or snorted their first Cocaine for instance, and that was "it." years of addiction followed. For them, these substances seemed like solutions, but of course long-term complications came too. Go to an open na meeting & listen -- it will be an education for you.
