Retainers: Once the bite is correct and all of your teeth are straight the dentist will remove all of the brackets and adhesive that held your brackets. After you are cleaned up he will take impressions for retainers that you will wear all the time for 6 months then nightly for many years. Some offices place permanent wires behind your upper and lower 6 front teeth however makes it difficult to floss and kee.

Brace Removal: After completion of active orthodontic treatment, the fixed braces are removed. The excess adhesive is removed. Normally, patients are then fitted for retainers or a a bonded retainer is placed (depending on the preferance of the treating orthodontist and patient preferance).
