Start w medical: Eval. It may uncover medical issues that need to be addressed. Cognitive behavioral therapy can be quite effective. Psych meds may be indicated. Aim for daily exercise, 8 hours of sleep per night & good nutrition w 5 servings of veggies & 4 of fruit per day. Try tai chi, yoga, qi gong, progressive muscle relaxation, deep breathing exercises & meditation. Spend time with friends and stay active.

There is help.: First, an evaluation from a mental health professional is a good first step. It's helpful to know what the nature of this depression is and how it's impacting you. After that, you and your mental health professional can decide on what is the best course of action. Some depressions can lift from a brief course of psychotherapy (talking therapy) while others respond best to meds + therapy.
