You can't talk him : Into something he isn't motivated to do. Have you considered that his anger issues are a problem for you but he doesn't consider it a problem. It does warrant explaining your concerns and encouraging him to get involved. It is even more important not to tolerate abusive behavior. If you become fearful of safety, or his behavior is abusive - leave the area right away.
