YES IT TAKES TIME: It may take days to months, as bacteria have to travel up from the vagina to pelvic organs.The commonest causes are sexually transmitted disease gonorrhea and chlamydia and can happen with other bacteria as well symptoms are fever, pain, foul smelling discharge, pain durin sex andurination, irregular periods in case of gonorrhea not treated it takes only days and with others may take days to months.
