Muscular pain - help: Pain generators likely muscular - have someone apply gentle pressure to the sore muscle areas for 1-2 min at a time. Pain likely to subside after 3-4 sessions. If no relief have doctor check for greater occipital neuralgia (treatable with injections) etc. Other options - yoga, biofeedback, keep neck warm with hoodie, scarf etc. John e sarno's book (amazon) has helped many folks with chronic pain.
