A member asked:

Why might it be that my metal allergy only affects certain parts of me?

Yes: It is usually worse where skin is thinner such as earlobes and around the neck but can occur wherever the metal has contact with the skin. Rings, watchbands, earrings, necklaces and snaps are often culprits. Carry change in a pants pocket can also result in a rash. The culprit is usually nickel.

Contact Derm: Metals can be a cause of contact dermatitis and will typically only cause the rash at the site of contact.
