Bleeding & pregnancy: Many women have various amounts of bleeding during the first 3 months of pregnancy from spotting to actually heavy bleeding episodes, mainly caused by a small separation of the sac from the uterine wall. The reason is poorly understood, however the great majority continue the pregnancy uneventfully. Try to rest, avoid strenuous activity and call your doctor, who might order an ultrasound.
