Do doctors see a lot of patients with renal infarction?

Heart disease: Renal infarctions commonly occur due to blood clots from the heart occluding arteries in the kidney.

Kidney Infacrtion: In my 35 years of experience, kidney infarction has been rare. I have seen renal vein thrombosis in patients with diseases that cause a huge amount of protein loss, but only one of those patients has had a loss of kidney function requiring removal of that kidney. The only other patient that had renal infaction was a child that had a narrowing of the renal artery and an attempted repair failed.
