A member asked:

Do a lot of people get renal infarction?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Rare event: Renal infarction is the term for loss of blood supply to all or a portion of the kidney which then dies. It is not a common event. It can be caused by atherosclerosis or more rarely, by blood clots lodging in the renal arteries. It can be a consequence of surgery on the abdominal aorta.
