Only occasionally: Most of the time, you don't need to do that to get pregnant. The advantage to it is the sperm stay near the cervix longer and, if your uterus is tipped backward (about 25% of women do), it may allow the sperm to get to your cervix. If you are having difficulty getting pregnant, it is worth trying, but probably has a fairly small chance of really making the difference.
