Chronic otitis: Sounds like chronic otitis which might be "serous" rather than "suppurative" (pus-filled) many causes not limited to (1) eustachean tube dysfunction (2) adenoid and tonsillar enlargment (3) allergies (4) sinus blockage. Rarely is this repeated bacterial infection. Ent should be able to do nasopharyngoscopy and ct scan of sinuses. As you said, get to the root of the problem with a smart ent.
