Go back to dentist: You need to go back to the orthodontist who fit dental braces to your daughter. The doctor can modify the brace so that it will not cause any sores. Even if you apply something to sooth the pain, it would be temporary, and the sore will come back. In the meantime you could try "viscous xylocaine" and apply it to the sore area frequently. You may need prescription, but a pharmacist may help you.

Lots: 1st, call orthodontist for advice (hopefully you're seeing an orthodontic specialist). Take 1 advil/motrin/ibuprofen every 4 hours w lots of liquid or food. Rinse w 1 tsp salt in 8 oz warm water, swish and spit out. Dab Benzocaine in orabase (otc) onto sore spot. Put orthodontic wax onto the "sticker." high protein diet helps.
