A member asked:

Can a panic attack or anxiety damage your brain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Anxiety: If you learn how to manage your anxiety you should not experience brain damage. Anxiety and stress does release stress hormones, if this is an excessive occurrence these hormones can kill neurons in the part of the brain that controls memory function. This is not likely however, so focus on learning how to manage anxiety. Consult a mental health professional for help in accomplishing this goal.
