Not particularly: Very high doses of alcohol can produce particular kidney problems, but these are rare even in severe alcoholics. Mostly, alcohol acts as a diuretic, which can cause dehydration, which is bad for all of you, including your kidneys. The sugar in soda is part of what is responsible for our increased obesity, and carbonated beverages, even diet, have been associated with increased heart disease.
