They can be: The symptoms of a scorpion sting depend on the species stinging, the patient's age, health and other factors, and the grade of the sting (which is determined through symptoms to figure out how much venom was injected). In the usa, the only medically significant scorpion is the "bark scorpion" and it has 5 grades of envenomation from 0 - no venom injected with no symptoms to 4 - most severe.
