I have cat allergies. is subletting an apartment where a cat lived 2 years ago a good idea?

Yes and no: Pet dander can linger in homes for up to a year after a pet is removed, if not thoroughly cleaned. If a thorough cleaning especially of carpet, drapes, furnace filter is accomplished, the amount of cat dander from 2 years ago should be minimal.
