Hormone Therapy: I would write this to your mother: it is very common that hormones are used in young women with intolerable pain during their menstrual cycles. Many gynecologists use birth control pills to provide this hormone treatments to women so that their monthly periods are not debilitating. I would ask that you attend the visit with your daughter's gynecologist to make sure all of your concerns are open.
