It's a Herculean : Task to deal with fragmented and piecemeal health care. Hopefully, going electronics will minimize duplication of medical services. Unfortunately, we physicians intuitively order duplicative tests to protect ourselves from legal ramifications. Welcome to the health care system of the 21st century!

FAX: At our office (dental), we have found physician's office can send us the quickest response if we fax the report/consult forms with a clear note on what we want to hear from them about ; the deadline, then call the office to confirm the receipt and our intention. I also let my patients know about our effort to coordinate care, and ask patients to get involved in our collaborative efforts.
