Body temp varies: The accepted "normal" body temperature is 98.6 degrees, but it varies from person to person, and varies throughout the day, going up and down almost a full degree at different times of day. Oral temperature is usually 0.4 degree lower than rectal temperature, so a typical oral temperature would be 98.0 if the rectal temp is 98.4.
