ACDF Respiratory: Anterior cervical spine operations as a rule don't cause respiratory problems. Difficulty breathing after surgery should be evaluated by your surgeon. Pneumonia, asthma, heart failure hemorrhage into the wound or possibly a blood clot in the lungs can cause shortness of breath and require further treatment. Do not delay getting a diagnosis as waiting may cause further harm.
