Many Possibilities: I would be seen by your primary care physician as a start. Many times when you have a lung infection/pleuritis it can cause back/thoracic pain with deep breaths and/or coughing. Your pain could also be due to a number of other issues so it is important to be evaluated. Kidney problems/infections can cause back pain as well.
