Dementia: Commonly the elderly begin to have mini-strokes and their brain get's damaged. We call this dementia. It sounds like her condition is causing you harm. I am unsure what resources you have where you live, but she may do well to be on medications for dementia and/or put in a safe nursing home so that this condition does no further damage to your spirit.

No, not normal: Is your grandma in the position of taking care of you? Please talk with your parents about this, because it sounds like your grandma needs to see her physician for a comprehensive evaluation. Various illnesses can show up this way in elderly people -- can be anything from a urinary tract infection causing confusion, to a mini-stroke, to a more longstanding dementing process. All need help.
