AP lordotic view: The x-ray technician will take an additional view of your chest to help see the apex (top) of your lung. This area is difficult to see on a regular chest x-ray because of the ribs and collar bone. Sometimes a tumor in that area can cause pancoast syndrome, but it is rare.

Clarification: Xrays take a 3d structure (you) and create a 2d image. Multiple structures overly one another. Sometimes this can cause an abormality to be hidden; sometimes this can falsely create an abnormality. Getting an additional view is a way to see if there is a real abnormality (and if it is, try to characterize it further) or if the "density" is from overlapping structures.
