Depends: In most people, having pericardial fluid or a leaky heart valve does not predict an increased risk of heart attack. These conditions can exist without coronary artery disease. It is helpful to know that one's heart arteries do not show blockages on cardiac catheterization, but one must still remain vigilant about maintaining a healthful lifestyle and evaluation for any new or worrisome symptoms.

Fluid around heart: If the arteries that give blood to the heart are clear, then your risk of heart attack is markedly reduced. However, a leaky valve with fluid around the heart suggests the possiblity of decreased function of the heart and heart failure which can be progressive and even more lethal.
