A member asked:

Does everyone with pcod have fertility issues? is it possible for women with pcod to conceive naturally?

Many, but not all: Women with pcos have fertility problems; in fact, that is one of the diagnostic criteria. Some women with pos can conceive, but it is a minority. Weight loss is essential; metformin can help restore normal menses and even fertility in many women. Other mediations are available for specific problems such as elevated testosterone levels or anovulation.

Possible: At 23 years old it is possible, especially if you are otherwise healthy (non-smoker, normal weight, etc) and you occasionally get your period on your own, without having to take any hormones. It is important to see your gyn or a reproductive endocrinologist for an evaluation and advice as your health risks are increased, especially for diabetes in pregnancy. Best of luck!
