A member asked:

Is taking digestive enzymes safe ? would it cause any dependency issues ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Enzymes: They are safe. No, you would not be dependent on them unless your body fails to make a specific enzyme. If this was in fact the case, then you would find that you would have difficulty digesting certain foods without the enzymes. A common example is lactose deficiency. Those that are deficient find it very unpleasant to try and consume dairy without lactaid tablets.
