COPD: COPD while commonly associated with smoking can develop for several other reasons mostly due to genetic conditions, long term exposure to other lung damaging processes in mining or construction. There is also damage caused by second hand smoke.

Other things: There are other conditions that can cause changes of COPD on chest xray: asthma or a condition called alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. But, chest xray can be notoriously inaccurate. The best way to see lung changes of COPD would be a ct scan of the chest. But, to be honest, if you have no symptoms...Not sure if the radiation exposure would be worth it.

Other causes: Though smoking is a primary cause of COPD, environmental and occupational conditions can also be a factor. If you work in a job with a lot of dust, chemicals, etc you can develop this condition. Genetics are also something to consider. How about your grandparents, parents aunts/uncles? Good Luck
