Epidural: Soaking the puncture site under water while in a bath tub could provide an entrance for bacteria / infection if the puncture site is not fully sealed.

To decrease : Risk of infection. The needle puncture wound doesn't close immediately and could theoretically be a passageway for water or skin bacteria to your epidural space. Infection in the epidural space is difficult to treat and can be lethal.
