When ovaries and uterus are removed surgically, do they also take out the fallopian tubes and lymph nodes and could that cause abdominal lymphadema?

Not usually.: When a hysterectomy is done, the entire uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries are removed. Normally no lymph nodes are removed; however, sometimes we do a pelvic lymphadenectomy for cancers. The source of the edema must be from another source.

Possible: Depends a bit on the primary diagnosis. For benign conditions uterus, tubes and ovaries ( or part of ovary) maybe removed. For other diseases or invasive situations entire removal and additional lymphadenectomy may be a consideration. Lymph stasis-and lymphedema can occur with a variety of surgical procedures but more likely with specific lymph gland interventions/ removal or radiation.

Sounds like: You had a total hysterectomy, so yes, tubes are removed. If you had this operation for cancer, lymph nodes were probably removed also. But this would probably not cause lymphedema. Consult your gyn for specific recommendations.
