A member asked:

Is smoking in moderation that bad for someone?

How bad?: Why would you want to do something like that if you're not already addicted? It's disgusting and you're telling the world you believe the tobacco companies' ads that portray it as cute and wholesome. "moderate" use will make you an addict and you'll tend to increase it. Even ten pack-years will take away from your wind as you reach middle age and put you at significant cancer risk.

Doesn't matter.: As far as permanent damage to your body is concerned, it doesn't matter how little you may smoke. There's no threshold below which smoking cigarettes loses its potential for harm. Just don't smoke at all.
