You can talk to your: Friend about getting professional help. Any person who engages in repeated cutting needs mental health assistance. A comprhensive psychological evaluation is needed. The person may need medications to help treat problems like anxiety, depression or bipolar disorder. If the cutting is associated with substance abuse – detoxification, 12 step program involvement or rehabilitation may be indicated.
