Natural Process: Pimples occur when glands in our skin get blocked and what they secrete collects and causes pressure. The immediate response is inflammation (red, hot, tender swelling). This is the body increasing the blood flow to the injury to bring healing factors to the area and also the veins expand to carry bad stuff away. Gentle cleansing and avoid picking/squeezing lets nature take its course.

Acne: Blackheads are best treated with a prescription, tretinoin (retin-a). These do not represent dirt, so all of the cleansing and scrubbing in the world will not resolve them.

Heat rash vs acne: If there are blackheads, this is probably acne. This may respond to the oral contraceptive pill if you can take it and want to; otherwise if it is on the back, a topical antibiotic plus benzoyl peroxide but you may need to go to a systemic antibiotic. A heat rash (i.e., no blackheads) is better managed by simple measures involving washing, clothing, and others your physician can explain. Good luck.

Acne: Acne is not only found on the face, but can also be on other areas of the body like the chest, stomach, back and buttocks. Another possibility would be folliculitis, which is an inflammation that occurs in the hair follicle and causes acne-like bumps.
