Call your MD for Rx: As asoon as aoutbrek of "cold sores" ( herpes oral) occurs - it is the best to take medication to shorten the course of ilness. Also mild bland diet and use of vaseline helps to prevent cracking lips. For insoide mouth sores can help topical analgesic ( like oragel - Lidocaine gel).

See your dentist: I would see a dentist that has a laser such as the biolase md laser which can treat the sores to heal them faster and immediately relieve the pain.
