Other options: Accutane is the most effective rx for severe acne, but your personal physician may have other ideas for you. The oral contraceptive pill may completely clear a woman who can take it. A regimen of tetracycline 500 2x/day plus topical benzoyl peroxide may clear fairly severe acne. If you have cystic acne, don't waste time / get scarred, accept the Accutane option.
