Varies: The nervous system is a remarkable combination of fragility and resilience. It takes time (and therapy) to recover from brain injury, and there is (unfortunately) no way of knowing how fast or how complete the recovery will be.

Typical patterns: Brain independent healing and maximal recovery occurs over 18-24 months. About 90% spontaneous improvement seems to occur over the first 6-12 months, with less over next year. Full restoration of prior brain functioning to 100% may or may not occur.
