A member asked:

What works most effectively to do for a abscess?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Antibiotics/drainage: An abscess is an infection. The body sends white blood cells to an infected area. The 'used up' white blood cells can accumulate in the area in a pool of thick fluid that we call 'pus'. Sometimes this pool needs to be surgically removed (drained). Other times, antibiotics are all that is needed to control the infection.
